MD Proposal Targets Nurse Shortage
The Washington Post reports that “with Maryland facing a shortage of 10,000 nurses in less than a decade, a coalition of hospital leaders and nursing educators proposed yesterday spending $59 million to expand state training programs and avert a looming health-care catastrophe.”

NFAP Comments on SD Union-Trib Article
NFAP’s Stuart Anderson was recently quoted in a SD Union-Tribune article on the nursing shortage. Mr. Anderson pointed out that “Relaxing strict immigration quotas currently imposed against internationally educated nurses, along with increasing faculty at U.S. nursing schools, will help ease the harmful impacts of the current nursing shortage in America.”

NCSBN: Faculty Shortage Conference March 26, 2008

Canadian Embassy in Manila: 18 Week Backlog
The Canadian Embassy in Manila is where Philippine nationals seeking to work in Canada present to pick up their Canadian visas. The Embassy recently released a statement that the Embassy is currently processing applications which were submitted 18 weeks ago. That statement was publicized through the POEA.
