12/09/2005 IMMIGRATION ALERT: Thank you for signing the letter to Congress calling for increased access to H-1B visas. The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) recently delivered the attached letter (click here to view the letter) to Congress with more than 750 businesses and universities signing in support of an increase in H-1b visas and recapture of unused immigrant visas. We at Hammond Law Group are grateful for all our clients who agreed to sign on to the letter, as we were able to contribute 121 client companies to the letter. As you may know, the Senate passed a proposal to provide temporary relief from the H-1B visa blackout and the employment-based green card backlogs in exchange for increased fees on some petitions, due in part to your efforts and the efforts of all other companies and universities who signed the letter. However, the bill that passed the House imposed a $1,500 fee increase on L visas and no visa relief. There is still hope that the H-1b and immigrant visa relief will be passed as both the House and the Senate meet in December to reconcile their two bills. Without the legislative
relief, there will be no more H visa numbers available until October 1,
2006. The visa cap was filled on Visit www.HammondLawFirm.com Keep
